… but before we do that, a little bit more about guacamole:
guacamole is quite nourishing.

Given its rich avocado content, guacamole is packed with essential nutrients. Some of the elements found in this dish are vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamins B5 and B6, omega-3 fatty acids, oleic acid, potassium, folate, iron, magnesium, zinc, and antioxidants.

Eating guacamole regularly can help you gain some of the health benefits normally associated with avocado. This super-food protects the eyesight, lowers levels of bad cholesterol and inflammation – hence protecting the heart, helps absorb other essential nutrients such as beta carotene, protects the brain against neurodegenerative diseases, and reduces oxidative stress – a naturally occurring process that can lead to numerous conditions including cancer.

Eat it in moderation

Since this dish mainly consists of avocado, it has a fairly high calorie intake. Therefore, if you want to keep your belly happy but your waistline within limits, you should only eat it in moderation. A cup of guacamole can add up to 400 calories to your daily intake.

If you’re even more eager to learn how to make guacamole now that you’re aware of its benefits, here are 5 famous recipes signed by internationally acclaimed chefs.

Jamie Oliver’s guacamole recipe is very easy to prepare and, according to the Master’s instructions, you should be able to get the work done in as little as 10 minutes. To make this recipe, you need a small red onion, 3 ripe avocados, fresh cilantro, one or two fresh red chilies, 4-6 cherry tomatoes, two limes, and olive oil.

Once the avocados and onion are well chopped, you combine them and chop them further. Then, add the cilantro leaves, and continue combining the ingredients by chopping them until the mixture becomes hom*ogeneous. Finally, add the lime juice, plus salt, and pepper if you want to make it tastier, and then scatter the chili.

2. Roberto Santibañez Guacamole Recipe

The award-winning chef Roberto Santibañe proposes a classic guacamole recipe in which the main ingredient, avocado, is not actually mushed up, so you can feel its natural texture. According to the famous chef, the result is “a bit like salad properly dressed in vinaigrette.”

To prepare this type of guacamole, you need one or two ripe Mexican Hass avocados, 2 tablespoons of chopped white onion, ¼ teaspoon of salt, ¼ cup of chopped cilantro, lime, 1 tablespoon of minced serrano or jalapeno chili.
You start by mincing and mashing the onion, salt, and half the cilantro on a cutting board or in a mortar.

Then, you put the peeled avocado halves in a bowl with the rest of the ingredients and you start tossing and meshing the mixture with a fork or pestle. Finally, season with lime, chili, and salt.

3. Alton Brown

Celeb chef Alton Brown proposes a straight-forward guacamole recipe based on the following ingredients: 3 Hass avocados (medium-ripe), ½ teaspoon of kosher salt, ¼ teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper, ½ cup of diced onion, ½ teaspoon of ground cumin, 1 clove of garlic, 2 diced Roma tomatoes, ½ minced jalapeno, 1 tablespoon of fresh chopped cilantro, 1 tablespoon of lime juice.

To prepare this fast and yummy recipe, you start by combining the halved and pitted avocado with the lime juice in a bowl.

Then, you add the pepper, salt, cumin, and mash everything with a potato masher, allowing some large chunks to ‘survive’ so that the guacamole can have a good texture.

Finally, add the rest of the ingredients – tomato, garlic, onion, jalapeno, and cilantro and stir everything together.

4. Matthew Tomkinson

Matthew Tomkinson’s rustic guacamole recipe is loyal to the traditional Mexican guacamole.

The Michelin starred chef recommends using seasonal tomatoes and 2 ripe avocados for this recipe. Besides these, the list of ingredients also comprises ½ finely chopped red onion, ½ lime, 1 handful of chopped cilantro, tabasco, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, and pepper.

To get down to work, you first put the peeled avocado in a bowl after removing the stones. Then, you add all the rest of the ingredients. After that, you slowly start mixing them with your hands. Finally, you season the dish and it’s ready to serve.

The Food Network TV personality and cookbook writer has her own signature guacamole. The recipe requires 4 peeled and pitted medium avocados, 1 small red onion, 1 medium lime (juiced), 1 medium lemon (also juiced), hot sauce, 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil, ½ minced small garlic clove, 2 or 3 tablespoons of kosher salt, 1 beefsteak tomato (diced), 4 chopped sprigs of cilantro, 1 jalapeno pepper, ½ tablespoon of granulated sugar.

The recipe requires little time. You take a large bowl and start whisking together the hot sauce, olive oil, lime and lemon juice, garlic, and onion. Then, you take a fork, add the avocado and salt in the bowl and start mashing. Afterward, season the tomatoes with sugar and salt, separately. Put the cilantro and jalapeno, as well as the tomatoes in the bowl, add the hot sauce, and more salt if needed and you are done.
