Firstly, I'm mainly a mage player still working for hyperion. Doesn't really matter though, I can switch easily.
I'm thinking of upgrading to either 3/4 Crimson or 3/4 Aurora from Necron and Storm but here are some considerations:
1. Everything outside of dungeons mage is just better at a lot of things like minibosses and AoE clearing of fodder mobs
2. Something is simply unplayable with mage though, like slayers
3. The upgrade from Necron to Crimson is larger and sets in way faster than Storm to Aurora
I think T3 Crimson is already better than Necron but Aurora needs T4
4. Inside of dungeons both don't matter. Only Necron matters in higher levels
5. I have a semi-maxed Livid Dagger(without fpb and some expensive T6/7 enchants). Do I need better swords/Terminator if I go the Crimson route?
Which one should I choose?

the devs already plan to change aurora set bonus somehow its in the initial nether up date patch notes so the 3rd one is valid for now. I wish mage wasn't as strong as it is now, back 2 years ago nobody used mage other than to do dragon with voodoo, it was obscure and fun and nowadays I just see mages as obnoxious because hyperion mages exist.

from what I've observed so far from watching mages, and crimson nons. neither are rly to viable when it comes to slayers other then blaze. (this is off topic but yesterday i watched a dude with a midas staff try to take down a tier 3 void gloom for 4min till it despawned) though if anything i would prob recommend you a good set of crimson, since base crimson is still worse then necron.

t5 revs are immune to magic damage (and arrows because all revs are immune to arrows)

Aurora is not that good, it was intended to be used with the aurora staff, which also isn’t good. Storm is probably better.
Crimson is great. Its set bonus is good and useful, and it gives decent stats after burning 2*. Buy one piece at a time and get it to burning 2*, then get another and so on.
Make sure you get good attributes as well.

one thing to note about aurora armor is that it can hold attributes such as mana pool so aurora armor can outclass storm armor at lower tiers

You dont need to get high aurora to outclass storm Just get the attributes mana pool and breeze and you'll be fine

(Mana pool books are 1.5m for the sake of this calculation)
16 shards for level 5 (100 extra mana), keep multiplying it up and the total is 512 shards, a total of 768m for ONE mana pool X armor piece. Not to mention getting it on 4/4ths and adding breeze to the equation.
Furthermore, the main feature of the new armor is the set bonuses. Yes, they give stats comparable to the wither sets, but reach hacks, 3x the arrows, or 2x the EHP are incredibly good. Then there’s Aurora… and its set bonus is intended to be used with a weapon that is critically underpowered. It’s just not worth it for the price, especially compared to Storm.

Bro you just need like mana pool 2 -3 on all pieces for it to be better than storm what are you talking about.
